Ultimately, I don't mind if Boruto chooses Sumire or Sarada. Boruto is slightly less dense then Naruto so we'll see more of that good stuff on screen. AT THE SAME TIME, he will also fall for Sarada because he's spent so much time with her and Boruto supports her Hokage dream. I think Boruto will fall for Sumire because she's so open about it.
Otherwise, we might get a Sakura 2.0 (just wants to be as strong as her teammates). Something big will have to happen to Sarada for her to start her journey on. For Sasuke, his motivation to get stronger was to kill Itachi and reset the ninja world.
On the other hand, we still don't have a turning point for Sarada's character. Boruto (and Kawaki) will probably be studied by Sumire when it comes to researching new tools. Sumire will definitely have a BIG role in Boruto "Shippuden" since she will be messing around with scientific ninja tools.
I think the story will have Boruto deciding in the end who he wants to be with based on his experience with both Sarada and Sumire.
